Flower Bud Formation , and Activity of GA - and ABA - like Substances of Cymbidium goeringii in Habitat

Abstract
The experiment was conducted to clarify the relationship between flower bud development and phytohormones by investigating the seasonal changes of endogenous GA and ABA like substances of Cymbidium goeringii in habitat. Flower bud formations were made twice in M shape, and the first formation period was ranged from late June to mid August and the second formation from late September to late October. Total number of flower buds showed no differences between 2 and 3 years old shoot, but they were more numerous at 3 years old shoots in the first flower bud formation period and at 2 years old shoot in the second flower bud formation period. The activity of GA like substances was gradually increased from February and maintained high in April to June when the lead bulb vigorously grew. After then, it was gradually decreased and maintained low during July to August. However, it was increased again from September to October as temperature was decreased, but almost not appeared after November. In the case of ABA like substances, on the contrary to GA, the amount of ABA was low when GA activity was high, and ABA, high when GA was low.
